At Essentials of Residential Underwriting, students attending this interactive workshop will learn about the methods and expertise needed to evaluate mortgage files, as well as the thought processes and insights required to analyze them. Industry experts will guide you through the underwriting process, including loan categories, supporting documentation, appraisal review, credit, income and asset analyses, fraud detection, and risk mitigation, and teach you how to apply this information to the everyday task of reviewing loans. Junior and new underwriters will be given the tools to provide a comprehensive underwriting examination. Through various case study scenarios, you�ll receive hands-on experience analyzing several loan applications, allowing you to learn first-hand how understanding the basics of underwriting and supporting technology will increase your confidence and hone your decision-making skills.

You are encouraged to bring your laptop to class for note-taking and class activities.

Class Schedule: Classroom programs begin with registration on Monday at noon. Class is held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Classes are held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Class begins at 9:00 a.m. on Friday morning and concludes at noon after a final assessment. Students successfully completing the course will receive a certificate of completion.

Tuition and Registration: Tuition for early registration (by June 14) is $1,080 per person, including course materials, lunch and refreshment breaks. Tuition for regular registration (after June 14) is $1,200. Dinner, lodging and travel are not included.
